Dear Choir. Our beloved Society turns 63 today and I thank all of you for being such a major part of The Phil's history and of course its legacy. I know we're all a little sad with the turn of events, but like cogs on a wheel, together we keep moving forward even through these challenging times - we keep safe and we emerge stronger. We will sing together again soon. So I invite you to raise a glass and toast The Phil today - hip hip hooray to this grand dame who we've come to love so very much. Dear Choristers, Friends of The Philharmonic Society of Selangor and all music lovers. As the nation's oldest performing arts organisation, its important for us to lead by example. And as an inter-generational community choir, our decisions are always underscored by what is best for our collective community and safety is paramount in this decision making process. Which is why, weeks before any official announcements were made by the authorities the Choir had collectively agreed to stop all rehearsals and as such our concert scheduled for July 2020 would be postponed as well. A tough, sad decision but a necessary one. When the fog lifts, we'll update you on new dates. These are unusual times but as a community we can overcome this. Right now solidarity, empathy and community spirit are paramount - you don't have to be physically present to share the love - technology will keep us connected in the best and safest way possibly. Keep your spirits high and be sensible as you go about leading your lives. Follow the rules of the Government's restricted movement directives and the Ministry of Health guidelines. It's there for our common good. But above all KEEP SINGING and let's keep our lives filled with music. In all of this uncertainty, we can still be calm, productive (or in some cases, take a much needed rest) and try to keep your joy quotient high. Take time in the next few weeks to create your own music soundtrack, you might surprise yourself. We'll see you all soon ❤️ Sing in joy and stay well, Brenda and the PSS Management Committee. |
Thanks to Yuanna & Cheng Lan's coordination, we donated the keyboard to Zo Children's School for Myanmar refugees for them to utilise in their music programme. The teachers and the children were immensely grateful for this. This photo is with David Sang, the head teacher at the centre and I was joined by teacher Cheng Lan (Ukulele), teacher Yuanna (English), and teacher Lynette (keyboard). I have to say it was touching to see how much the kids love our 3 friends from The Phil. |
